A little bit of backstory from the bride: Aaron and I first started dating our junior year of high school. We had a lot of the same friends but had never really talked until we sat next to each other in 4th period U.S. history. After high school we both attended Texas Tech together and lived in Houston for a few years before finally moving back home, to Dallas. 9 years later we are now married!
Q: What was your favorite picture from your wedding day?
A: My favorite photo is one of the first look photos. It’s not the best photo of us, but it is completely natural and you can see the happiness we were feeling at that moment. I can relive all the feelings of that day when looking at it.
Q: What was your color palette and style vision?
A:I knew I wanted a lot of neutrals and a little pop of wine color. I didn’t really have a style vision, I just knew what I liked and didn’t like and it ended up all coming together at the end. My main goal was to add in details that made the wedding ours. I wanted all of the guests to think when leaving “wow, this wedding was so Kaitlyn and Aaron”.
The bride describing her wedding dress: I had a hard time deciding what style of dress I wanted, so I went with one that had the option of both the styles I wanted. I had a flowy overskirt that I wore for the ceremony, and took it off for a more fitted look for the reception. It ended up working perfect.
The bride’s favorite memory from her big day: The whole day was literally a dream. I think my favorite time was when the ceremony was over and we took a trolley with all of our closest friends and some family to the reception. We were both finally able to relax and enjoy some time together and hangout with the people that mean the most to us before the chaos of the reception started.
Some extra things that the bride loved about her wedding!:
Q: What was your cake like?
A: The cake was very simple but had the same design of lace as a texture down the side to match my dress! Aaron had a Dallas Maverick grooms cake. Fun fact: the Mavericks cake was based off a cake that Dirk (a Dallas player) had for his birthday.
Advice from the bride: My advice is always remember it is your day!! Incorporate what you love into the day even if it doesn’t “go” with the overall look or vibe. If you want to serve fast food at a black tie wedding, go for it!!! Everything will come together at the end, so don’t waste your time worrying. Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
