The Couple’s Love Story

Mark and I met on a dating app called Bumble. I’d been on the app for a little while , but this was Mark’s first time trying his hand at online dating. I was the first (and last) person he met up with from an app to go on a date! While I was a little nervous that I may have talked his ear off on our first date, it was clear from the beginning that there was something refreshingly different about Mark, and I couldn’t wait to learn more. We spent a year and a half getting to know each other, spending quality time with family and friends, travelling together, enjoying sporting events, etc. Then Mark planned the ULTIMATE surprise.

continued: Mark showed up on my family trip to Maui to propose to me on the beach and it was one of the most amazing moments of my life. He’s incredibly kind, supportive, goofy in the best way, and we just suit each other so well. There’s no one else I’d rather create a life with and I look forward to all that we have ahead of us.

The Dress: Oh my goodness did I love my dress! I tried on at least 40 dresses in order to find this one. I didn’t go into dress shopping knowing what I wanted, so I knew it might take me a bit to find the one. Ultimately, I fell in love with this dress because I felt like it was a combination of so many elements of other dresses that I’d loved. I knew it was the one when I couldn’t wait to put it back on again at the store, and we all shed a couple of tears and had a special moment.

The Flowers- I truly let Katie from billieball & co take my limited direction and run with it because I knew she’d do an AMAZING job, which she did. She blew our expectations out of the water and I loved all of the floral- from our bouquets, to the cross instillation, to the greenery across our head table. It was just perfection and further added to the romantic and warm vibe we were going for.

Q: What was your favorite memory from the day?

A: How can I pick just one?! Truly, the entire weekend was even more amazing than either of us could have ever hoped for or imagined. We knew we would have a great time with our family and friends, but I think we both underestimated the overall outpouring of love & support we felt the entire weekend that just made us feel so wonderful in starting the rest of our lives together. If I must pick ONE memory, it would have to be when I finally got to see Mark as I came down the aisle. It was very important to both of us, but especially to Mark, that our first look that day would be when I came down the aisle, and the anticipation and wait was so worth it. I could see the emotion in his eyes and knew it was reflected in mine and just loved getting to see my husband at the end of that aisle finally, ready to start the next chapter of our lives.

Q: What was your style vision?

A: Overall, I knew that with the urban and industrial venue we’d chosen, I wanted to bring a really romantic vibe to it. I did this with lots of greenery, as well as colors that were warm and inviting. The venue itself provided great options for romantic lighting with the string lights, and Edison bulbs we had for our head table.

Q: What is your favorite photo and why?

A: One of my favorite photos would be this black and white one of our first dance. I love seeing the big smile on my husband’s face, the string lights of our gorgeous venue, the way we are looking at each other- it’s just such a wonderful moment captured perfectly. It’s a framer, for sure.

Advice for Future Brides: Hire Emily Nicole Photo- including the videography. Seriously. All joking aside though- I was very on the fence about whether we needed videography- as was my fiancé, now husband. He didn’t feel it was necessary but supported my decision. Well let me tell you- it is his FAVORITE thing that we have from our wedding, hands down. He was so excited waiting to receive our trailer and then final video, and we ended up also purchasing our full ceremony to have forever as well. Think long and hard about what memories you’ll want to keep forever- they are priceless.
