Allyson and Austyn Engagement Session

This Session took place at Stone Creek Park in Flower Mound, TX

The Love Story:

Austyn and I met through work at Southwest Airlines. My boss arranged a time for she and I to visit the airport and spend time in the operation to better understand what frontline employees do. Austyn was the supervisor who gave us the tour and showed us around. He actually came and spent some time with my team learning what we do a couple weeks later. As we walked out to the parking lot at the end of the day, he asked me out. He proposed just over a year after our first date.

The Proposal:

A little backstory – I love bridges, and I had been wanting to go to Multnomah Falls, right outside Portland, Oregon, for a few years. I had actually flown to Portland twice with the intention of going there, but it hadn’t worked out. So Austyn and I started planning last March to take a trip there in June since he knew how much I wanted to go. In the weeks leading up to the trip, I was kind of wondering if he would propose there. I didn’t want to get my hopes up, but of course I was hopeful anyway. What I didn’t expect at all was my best friend and maid of honor-to-be being there to take pictures and celebrate with us. Austyn had gotten her a flight from New York to Atlanta, through Dallas, and on to Portland. She was actually on the same flight as us from Dallas and I had no idea. She was there to capture the whole proposal for us. It was a beautiful day with incredible scenery and two of my favorite people in the world. It’ll always be one of the best trips I’ve ever taken!

What did you love about the engagement session experience?

I loved how comfortable you made us feel! Austyn and I are not very natural in front of the camera, but the fun little questions you had us ask each other to make us laugh or capture a real smile made it much easier. Both of us were a little stressed going into the session, but we ended up having a great time and absolutely loved how the pictures turned out!

What advice do you have for brides during the engagement season?

I think one of the most important things to remember is that some things are out of your control. Enjoy planning the things you can control, and let everything else fall into place. The wedding day goes by so incredibly fast, so don’t spend it worrying. Breathe, take it in, and enjoy celebrating with your loved ones. At the end of the day, you’re married and that’s all that matters. And, if something doesn’t go as planned, you’ll just have a story to tell.
