Michelle and Michael’s Wedding day

Michelle and Michael’s wedding at the Baumberhof in Edmond was nothing short of a fairytale! The Baumberhof venue was modeled after authentic German barns. When you step foot on the property you feel like you are transported to a different world, it is truly magical.

A little bit of backstory from the bride:

Michael and I met through my sister, Kayla, and brother-in-law, Lance, about a month into my first year of nursing school. A couple of years before Michael and I met, Kayla and Michael became friends after Lance introduced them at a mutual friend’s wedding. Lance and Michael were both in Lambda Chi at OU, so they share a lot of the same friends. Kayla immediately knew that she needed to set Michael up with one of her friends because he was such a catch. She texted me about some cute medical student that she wanted me to meet, but I just blew her off since I had just started my freshman year of college at OSU. Michael was in his fourth year of medical school at the time and was understandably not into the idea of dating me either due to the big age difference. Two years later, I moved to Oklahoma City for nursing school and knew that I needed to start meeting new people. I had plans to hangout with Kayla, Lance, and some of their friends one night, so I asked her if she could invite the cute doctor that she had tried to set me up with a couple years back. At that point, Michael was in his second year of residency and rarely went out, but for some reason he agreed to meet up with us. We finally met for the first time at a bar called Savings and Loans. We immediately hit it off and spent the entire night talking and getting to know each other. We’ve been best friends ever since.

Q: What was your style vision/color palette?

A:Our color palette was light blue and white with touches of gold and greenery. I wanted our wedding to be a combination of boho and elegant with a lot of natural elements.

The brides favorite memory from her big day:

I loved everything about the day, so it’s hard to think of one specific moment that stands out from the rest. Right after I did my bridal photos, I was looking out the window and saw Michael taking his solo shots with the photographers. It was so special to see how happy, excited, and nervous he looked. After being in a relationship with someone for a while you get so comfortable with each other that you don’t really get nervous about anything anymore. In that moment I felt the butterflies that I had felt when we first started dating and I could tell that he was feeling them, too.

Q: What was your wedding dress like?

A:I knew that I had to have a poofy dress because this is pretty much the only day in a girl’s life that she can dress like a princess.  I loved the sheer neckline and back of my dress with the buttons going all the way down the length of my train. The strips of lace mixed with the tulle in my train were my absolute favorite part of the dress.

Q: What were your flower arrangements like?

A: The flowers for the rest of the wedding were absolutely stunning. Juniper made all of the arrangements feel elegant while still keeping them simple and natural. We used all white flowers combined with greenery to maintain a light, airy feel. The arrangement on the pillars for the ceremony was gorgeous and turned out exactly how we wanted.

The food choices/catering described by the bride:

We chose to do food trucks for food, so that we could guarantee yummy food. Michael and I searched for months to find the best food trucks. We had pizza, barbecue, and doughnuts, so we pretty much covered all of the important food groups.  The cake(s) described by the bride:

My cakes were probably my favorite part of the wedding along with all the flowers. I knew I wanted three cakes, so that we could provide guests with as many flavor options as possible. The design of the cakes was beautiful and Yunita pulled it off perfectly. We included a little bit more of the light blue by having the cakes fade from white to blue. Juniper Designs, our florist, supplied some beautiful greenery to add to the boho, natural feel.

Q: What was your favorite picture from your wedding day?

A:This is my absolute favorite photo because you can just feel how happy we were in this moment. Getting to marry your best friend is the best thing ever!!!

Advice for future brides:

Don’t waste any energy getting stressed out or angry on your wedding day because it’s honestly such a short day. It all goes by too fast, so you want the few memories you have of it to be good ones.  It’s ONE night and it’s for you and your spouse. Don’t let one party pooper ruin your night when so many other people around you are enjoying it!
