Q: What were your invitations like?

A: All of my invitations, save the dates, and menu cards were made by my best friend, one of my matron of honors, Kaylyn Waters. I knew the look and wording I wanted, and she made them come to life! She did a beautiful job creating them to be simple, yet timeless.

A little bit of backstory from the bride: Eric and I met in Nacogdoches, Texas while attending Stephen F. Austin State University. After graduation, Eric moved back to his hometown of Boyd, Texas, and I stayed in Nacogdoches were I was born and raised. We both started our careers in separate towns, but continued dating for 2 years. Once the distance and traveling back and forth became too much, we decided that I would move so we could be together. We bought our first home and lived together to about 3 years when Eric popped the question. We were staying the in the cutest little white cabin while on vacation in Broken Bow, Oklahoma when Eric asked me to marry him. Everything about our engagement was perfect. Eric setup his phone to record our special moment. It captured the every word, every tear and every jump of joy! Six months later, we were standing in front of our family and friends on a wide-open ranch saying “I do.”

Q: What was your color palette and style vision?

A: Our color palette was blush and navy. The bridesmaids chose their own style of dress from David’s Bridal, but they all wore blush. They wore rose gold jewelry that was all different. I was very laid back when it came to the girls’ dresses and jewelry. I knew I wanted them to wear the same color, but I wanted them to wear a dress that made them feel pretty and comfortable. The groomsmen wore navy tuxes from Menguin.

The bride’s favorite memory from her big day: My favorite memory was standing inform of our family and closest friends, yet feeling like it was only Eric and I, promising each other a life together full of love and laughter. I remember telling Eric afterwards that I didn’t remember seeing anyone else while I walked down the isle towards him. It was truly the best part of my day knowing that we were focused on each other and nothing else really

The dress described by the bride: My dress came from Mary Me Bridal in Denton, Texas. I knew I wanted the mermaid shape since I was a young girl. It was covered in lace from top to bottom, and I added the simple silver belt with a touch of rose gold. I LOVED my dress! After some alterations by the wonderful Ms. Seda from Angel’s Alterations in Little Elm, Texas, it was everything I wanted and more! She took everything I wanted changed and went above and beyond to make the dress fit!

Q: What was your favorite picture from your wedding day?

A: This is seriously the hardest question for me because I LOVE them all! I mean it. All of the photos are beautiful and capture the day from beginning to end like a perfect story. I ended up choosing 2 because they are different, yet still make me smile each time I look at them. The first one is a simple portrait of Eric and I. I love how effortless this picture looks even though we were told how to pose. I love that it’s a full body picture for the both of us, and that it shows off the long train of my dress. The background is perfect with the sun slightly shining in. I really love this photo! The second one I chose was a black and white photo from our first dance. I love this photo because although we may have been nervous, we’re focused in on each other as if it was just the two of us on our back porch on a Saturday night.

The cake(s) described by the bride:

All of our cakes were from the lovely Kelly Badger in Decatur, Texas. I had met through a mutual friend, and she had made several cakes for bridal showers I had attended. She made a 4 tiered vanilla cake with buttercream icing for our wedding cake. She sprinkled in the flowers to give it the perfect pop of color! When we first started discussing cakes, I asked Eric what kind of grooms cake he wanted. Eric, being his normal silly, lighthearted-self, replied, “A cheesecake with a strawberry shortcake on top!”. I laughed it off and told him to give me a serious answer. He then decided on a chocolate sheet cake with crumbled walnuts on top! Delicious! I kept thinking back to his original answer, and I couldn’t let it go. So I called Kelley and told her I had a crazy request. Without hesitation, Kelly helped me surprise Eric with his very own personal sized cheesecake with a strawberry shortcake on top!

Advice from the bride: Slow down and enjoy the day. Weddings take months of planning and preparing, but the day goes by so fast. Take a minute to yourself, give the people that are special to you an extra minute of your time and let them know how special they are to you. Weddings are about you and your husband, but they’re also about the people that you love that helped guide you on your journey to the big day. After the ceremony, take a minute with just you and your husband. Soak in every second because before you know it, the night is over and you’ll be looking back on the day dreaming that it would’ve last forever.
